Aims
Our aim is to better understand SARS-CoV-2, flaviviruses and hepatitis delta virus.
Specifically, we aim to:
- Understand host cell signalling mechanisms regulating viral pathogenesis;
- Identify therapeutic targets for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 and flaviviruses;
- Characterising antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV-2 and flaviviruses;
- Establish, validate and compare different diagnostic testing strategies and therapeutics;
- Sequencing and virological characterisation of emerging virus strains of SARS-CoV-2;
- Evaluation of SARS-CoV-2 tests and testing strategies regarding their efficiency, specificity, practicability;
- Explore societal and health services aspects of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic; and
- Contribute to pandemic preparedness for future emerging pathogens and pandemics.
To elucidate virus protein–induced immune signaling mechanisms underlying Post-COVID syndrome and other post-infectious diseases.
We aim to define how viral surface and structural proteins, independent of productive infection, interact with immune cell receptors and trigger persistent or maladaptive intracellular signaling pathways that contribute to long-term immune dysregulation.
To identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets associated with post-infectious immune dysfunction.
By integrating mechanistic signaling studies with translational analyses of patient-derived samples, we aim to identify molecular signatures that enable improved diagnosis, stratification, and targeted intervention in Post-COVID and related post-infectious conditions.
Methods
We use and provide training for the following methods:
Selected methods used in our group:
- high-throughput microscopy;
- virological assays (neutralisation assay, drug evaluation);
- cell culture models;
- PCR sequencing;
- molecular-biological methods.
Please contact the individual researchers (► Members tab) for methods that are not listed in this overview.
