Research Focus:
Functional genomic profiling to identify personalized therapeutic vulnerabilities in brain cancer patients
The group for “Translational Neuro-Oncology” aims to establish a resource of pre-clinical CNS tumor models, for example, patient-derived organoids (PDOs) and orthotopic xenografts (PDOXs) reproducibly recapitulating the molecular and cellular heterogeneity of the parental tumors. Using these models as patient avatars, functional genomic screens and pre-clinical drug screening workflows will be applied to tackle genetic dependencies and intrinsic tumor plasticity. Those Models will allow us to advance basic research for understanding tumor biology and mechanisms of action, study novel treatment strategies ex vivo, and hopefully help improve brain cancer patient therapy. To do so, we collaborate closely with Clinicians, Surgeons, and Pathologists at the University hospital in Frankfurt.
